Kayaking and Camping - $225.00

Refunds:
Only on rare occasions will refunds be given. In the case of the trip being canceled, every participant will receive a refund. Participants may also get a refund if they find an eligible replacement to take their place on a trip. (Ex: someone on the waiting list.) A refund form and a Vendor Registration Form must be completed by the participant and turned in to the Outdoor Recreation Director within 2 weeks of the canceled trip. Once the Outdoor Pursuits Coordinator receives all forms, a check will be mailed to the participant's home within two weeks.

Pre-Trip Meetings:
Pre-trip meetings contain crucial safety information for each trip. For this reason, these meetings are MANDATORY for all participants. If you are unable to attend a pre-trip meeting, you must inform your trip leader and schedule a time to meet with them on an alternate date prior to the pre-trip meeting. Failure to attend a pre-trip meeting without prior notice will result in losing your spot on the trip and a refund will not be issued. Excused absences will be approved on a case by case basis.

Trip Information:
Join us on a 6 day trip to the beautiful Lake Jocassee for a relaxing trip of kayaking and camping. Lake Jocassee came out of an old Cherokee word that means “place of the lost one” and originated out of an old Cherokee Legend. The Lake is nestled in the Appalachian Mountains and has been called “South Carolina's little Switzerland”. We will be camping out under the stars at Devils Fork State Park in South Carolina and on the beautiful shoreline of the lake. We will be seeing breath-taking water falls that pour directly into the lake. This trip is a beautiful chance to relax, learn some skills, and a nice get away from classes.

This trip is open to first time kayakers. Participants will have the opportunity to learn how to paddle, how to re-enter their kayak, and many camping skills as well. Be prepared to paddle an average of 3-4 miles per day. We will be travelling around the lake in our kayaks, bringing all of our camping gear with us. We will be camping with limited services, meaning there will be no running water or electricity.

Included in the trip cost are transportation, instruction, kayaking gear, camping gear, and most meals. You will need to bring snacks and lunches, clothing, and personal hygiene items.

Pricing:
Nature Bound Member $120
KSU Student $150
Faculty/Staff/Alumni: $225

Ability Level: Beginner to Experienced

Mandatory Pre-trip Meeting:
TBD

Registration Information:
Priority Registration begins February 7th for all Nature Bound members. Registration must take place in person at the Outdoor Adventures Suite (SRAC 1050) with cash or check.
